SMOW was founded in Germany in 2002 by two ex-Vitra employees with a love of design but with an entrepreneurial streak. They wanted to start their own company offering some of the best designed products in Europe. SMOW Germany has grown now to five (smow) rooms and an online shop.
Now the SMOW brand is in Australia, offering authentic and unique European designed and manufactured products. Also started by experienced furniture professions with entrepreneurial streaks. They worked with some of the World’s leading furniture brands. In Australia you can access some of the most unique products online.
Lucy Acheson
With an architect as a father appreciation of good design was a fundamental part of growing up in New Zealand; however Lucy eventually trained as an Occupational Therapist and this led to her setting up her own practice in the field of injury prevention and health and safety. Working with employers and employees to maximize function and prevent injuries led to an ongoing professional and personal interest in furniture design and completion of a post graduate Diploma in Ergonomics.
Family and travel put the career on the “back burner” at times but the passion for furniture that is both beautiful and functional is constant. Lucy currently enjoys working in aged heath care and in customer care at (smow).
